NGS presents awards to individuals or institutions who, over a period of five
years or more, have made outstanding contributions to NGS programs or who have
performed outstanding work in the field of genealogy, history, biography, or
heraldry. The Award of Merit recognizes distinguished work in American genealogy
by an individual or institution. A nominee need not be a member of NGS.
This award may be presented to an individual or institution more than once.
