The NGS Magazine is much more than a member news source. Each issue is chock-full of informative articles that "show and tell" readers how to do effective genealogical research.

A typical issue features such topics as migration, immigration, courthouse records, adoption resources, records preservation, or a case study that illustrates problem-solving techniques. Regular columns discuss the National Archives, beginning genealogy, technology, family history writing, and reviews of books or software.

From NGS Magazine, members learn important news about the annual NGS Family History Conference and research trips, NGS awards and competitions, what's new with the organization, and other upcoming events in the genealogical community.

About the Editor

Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, cg, cgl, holds Certified Genealogist^SM and Certified Genealogical Lecturer^SM. credentials. She is the creator of the software program Clooz—the electronic filing cabinet for genealogical records, is managing editor of both NGS Magazine and Digital Genealogist, and authored the books Plymouth's First Century: Innovators and Industry, a photo history of Plymouth, Michigan, and Plymouth in Vintage Postcards, a postcard history of twentieth-century Plymouth. She is the executive director of the Plymouth Historical Museum and retired from the U.S. Marines as a major.
