Working With Deeds
Working with Deeds is a self-paced course designed for genealogists who want to learn about various types of deeds and how information contained in them can help solve research problems. The course consists of a downloadable PDF file that can be printed or read on a computer using the free Adobe Reader program. After you register and pay for the course, you’ll be able to log in and download the file.
NGS offers American Genealogy: Home Study Course, a sixteen-lesson course on three CDs, for the more experienced genealogist who wants an in-depth independent study course.
What Will I Learn?
After completing this six-lesson online course, students will be able to
- locate a deed;
- explain what can be found in deeds;
- transcribe a deed;
- abstract a deed;
- evaluate the evidence in a deed;and
- write a citation for a deed.
