NGS GENTECH . . . bridging genealogy and technology

Who We Are

GENTECH, a division of the National Genealogical Society, facilitates communication among persons interested in genealogy and technology. Through presenting national conferences, sponsoring programs with other societies, and publishing white papers based on analyses of problems of common interest to genealogists and technologists, we seek to maximize the movement of knowledge among the members of our constituencies.

News & Events

Conferences

The 2007 NGS Conference and Family History Fair will feature the GENTECH luncheon. Further details will be posted soon.

Projects

GENTECH sponsors a variety of projects aimed at facilitating the effective use of technology in genealogy.

The organization is well known for having developed the GENTECH Genealogical Data Model, which is of use to software developers who write genealogy software.

The GEDCOM TestBook Project evaluates genealogy programs to see how well they conform to the GEDCOM standard.

GENTECH also sponsors a scholarship program for young scholars who pursue research projects that combine technology and genealogy.

For more information, please refer to the Projects page.
