The GEDCOM Testbook Project

Data Entry:

To assure consistent data entry the events and their associated information for each of the 23 individuals are provided in the accompanying list. Birth events for children and marriage events for couples appear under the parents and spouses. This is done for reference purposes. Data is entered only once. The 17 sources and 5 repositories are listed at the end of the document along with the submitter information and submission information required for an LDS GEDCOM.

Enter data in your program in the usual manner. Please enter all data as shown, especially notes. It is permissible to add any other information you feel is implied by the source evidence and facts. Use the fields as supplied by the program developer if possible. In the event it is necessary to create a new field and your program supports this option, do so. Should this be the case, and you have the option of creating a GEDCOM tag for the event, use the tag shown to the left of the data in upper case letters. These are the valid GEDCOM tags for the events. Items labeled TEXT are intended to be entered as part of the source citation. NOTE items should be entered as notes under the event to which they pertain. If your program does not permit either TEXT or NOTE items to be entered in this manner, enter them in general notes with the remark, "entered as general note". Role information is supplied for those programs supporting that option. Any information for which the program has no fields is to be entered as a general note. Please indicate by including "entered as general note" with the data should this be the case. If your software has an LDS option please use it as all supported LDS events are contained in the events list.

If you have a question please contact mumford@mumford.ca

George van Stone, local businessman and entrepreneur, who was handling Reginald's land grant, suggested he could either give up the grant and take employment as a laborer or prove the grant. Either way he would require someone to care for the children. He suggested the Potter Valois family in Brighton. They had a son John's age and at 13, Rebecca would be a help to Mrs. Valois. Reginald spent Christmas with the Valois family and decided to accept their help. It would prove a good decision.

Registers cover the period from 1632 to 1837. Regisers from July 1745 to August of 1756 are almost illegible due to water damafge. The Reverend John Begg was a circuit curate. His registers appear to have been kept by an unnamed person.
