The Summary Report
These reports are based on the findings from four sources. On export the Gedcom file is first passed through the GEDCHK program and any tag exceptions, syntax errors, extended tags and cross reference problems noted. The file is then visually examined on a line by line basis to determine how the developer coded specific data items. Also noted are data items that were recorded but have not been exported.
On import the exception list, if one was created, is examined and reported "errors" investigated. Problems with specific tags or structures is noted. The database is then examined for completeness of data importation and for where the information is located. This check will reveal problems not indicated in the exception list.
When these checks are complete the summary is prepared and the testbook scorecard prepared. Although the two reports are based on the same information the summary is intended to provide a more precise definition of the problems. The scorecard is primarily a base for a visual representation that will allow a quick comparison of programs to be made.
