NGS NewsMagazine(Approximately $22 of your membership dues is used towards the printing and postage of the NGS Quarterly and NewsMagazine)
Feature articles include interviews, a spotlight on research facilities and special collections, committee reports, focused genealogical subjects, technology-related articles and software reviews. Conference articles prepare you for all the action in the next conference; as well as sharing the activities at recent conferences. News stories and upcoming genealogical events appear on the NGS Web site as we receive them. Genealogy News is a regular column that includes selected current material from the Web site. Coming Genealogical Events is a list of events and dates taken from a more detailed listing that appears on the Web site. Information on the Learning Center, its courses, conferences, and research trips appears regularly as well. We also print tips, suggestions, and letters from readers on a regular basis. Books by Our Members highlights new publications published by our members and member organizations. Queries from our members will also be published in the NewsMagazine and on the NGS web site. A portion of the searchable online NGS Bookstore catalog is also published in some issues of the NewsMagazine, usually highlighting new resources or sale items. Because the NewsMagazine is membership-oriented, articles are solicited from all members. Please send prospective articles to the addresses shown below. Deadlines for articles are the 15th of the month, one and one-half months before the publication date. For example: the deadline for the Jul/Aug/Sep issue of any given year would be May 15th. The
NGS NewsMagazine features articles about genealogy as well as news of
the society. It is published in January, April, July, and October.
