12 - 12 September 2020 GeneaQuest 2020: Frontiers in Genealogy Hoffman Estates, Illinois

CAGGNI‘s 4th biennial conference will be held at the NIU Conference Center - Hoffman Estates in the Chicago suburbs. This event will feature international, national and local presenters covering a wide range of genealogy topics of interest to all skills and interest levels. Speakers include: Maurice Gleeson, Kitty Cooper, Jane Haldeman, Dan Hubbard, Gail Lukasik, David Stumpf, and Michelle Wilson. A pre-conference DNA Primer will be held on Friday afternoon, September 11.

Ellen will present "Documenting Families and Communities Lost in the Holocaust by Bullets."

Keli will present, "10th Mountain Division -- a full division of the United States Army specializing in mountain and winter warfare.

The Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) provides an educational forum for the discovery, critical evaluation, and use of genealogical sources and methodology through a week of intensive study led by nationally prominent genealogical educators. Taking a cue from the suffrage movement we will explore 5 themes and discuss how they impacted our female ancestors and the results in the records that are available.

Gina Philibert-Ortega is an author, researcher and instructor.   She holds two Master degrees.  Her current research includes women’s repatriation and citizenship in the 20th century, foodways and community, and women’s material culture.

27 - 28 June 2020 StLGS Summer Speaker Series: Hidden Gems at the Missouri State Archives Virtual

Announcing our First Online Summer Speaker Series

Hidden Gems at the Missouri State Archives features John Dougan, Missouri State Archivist, and Kelsey Berryhill and Christina Miller from the Missouri State Archives. The event will present a variety of topics to help you understand state archive records and how to use them, no matter where your ancestors lived.

Two lectures each day will be live streamed and all of the lectures will be recorded. An invitation to attend the live streaming, as well as handouts for the lectures, will be emailed to registrants a few days prior to the event. Registrants can view the recordings later at their convenience.

The price for StLGS members is $35 and for non-members $45. Registration for the Summer Speaker Series is now open in our online store.
