Celebrate America250 and Connect People with the Past

Resources for Genealogy and Family History Organizations

Interest in the country’s history is growing as we commemorate the United States Semiquincentennial, also referred to as America250, culminating on 4 July 2026. For many, this also sparks a new or renewed curiosity about family history. NGS encourages our organization members to participate in this once-in-a-generation moment.

Family history tells the country’s story, and organizations have an opportunity to invite everyone to explore their past and their connection to the nation’s history. NGS is excited to support your efforts to open the doors, virtually or in person, and share all that you offer.

A toolkit is available to help you start planning or expand options. It points to practical, easy ways to increase outreach, engage a wide range of people, and work with partners to grow the genealogy and family history community. Download the PDF with:

  • An introduction to America250,
  • Organizations for resources, information, and partnerships,
  • Tips and suggestions to support success,
  • Ideas for activities and events, and more.

Learn more about organizations and ideas in the toolkit – watch the OrgConnects! event recording on Outreach and Partnerships for America at 250 and Beyond.

Help make history more personal and meaningful and family history more accessible to everyone. And do so knowing that the relationships and engagement you cultivate now can last after the 250th celebrations end and create an exciting future.

Together, we can provide a rich and inclusive understanding of the nation’s history and its relevance today that will generate a passion for genealogy for generations to come.
